Wrapping Up Masters 2024 and Looking Ahead to looking at 2025

Wrapping Up Masters 2024 and Looking Ahead to looking at 2025

The 2024 Masters was one to remember. There have been many great Masters tournaments over the years, but the 2024 Masters will stand out. It may not have been the most memorable of all of the Majors played at Augusta National, but it was absolutely one that showed a truly dominant golfer as well as one that may have arrived on the scene.

The 2025 Masters won’t be the same. However, it will be better than many may have thought after the hurricane came through. By this time next year, we’ll be looking back on the 2025 Masters as fondly as we do any of the Majors of the past.

Your Winner

For the second time in three years, Scottie Scheffler took it home. If there was any doubt that Scottie belongs among the very best golfers in the game, he put that to bed with a command performance.

There are many Masters that are close, that come down to the final round, or even the final shot and hole. This wasn’t one of them. Scottie had it for some time. Indeed, he finished at -11 over the course of the four round tournament. That was good enough to be four strokes better than your second place finisher.

Scottie received $3.6 million, not bad for four days of work. Of course, he also received another pretty snazzy looking green jacket, too.

The Runner Up

Your second-place finisher in the 2024 Masters has plenty to be proud of, too. Of course, to come in 2nd at the Masters is the achievement of a lifetime. Being able to step onto Augusta National and then beat all but one golfer (and perhaps the best golfer in the world) is a feat to be proud of, at the risk of severe understatement.

But, this performance was even more impressive than that. Ludvig Aberg came in second at the Masters in 2024. If that name doesn’t sound all that familiar to you, there’s a reason for that: this was Mr. Aberg’s very first appearance in the Masters. That’s right. This was his Master’s debut. And what a debut it was.

He had never competed in the Masters before and, by the time he finished his final round, he had beaten everyone but one golfer. That’s a debut to be built upon. It’s entirely possible that, by the time we write this article in the future (and maybe even in 2025) we’re talking about Mr. Aberg in a very different context indeed.

The Top 10

Scottie and Ludvig were far and away the two best at the Masters this year. Scottie finished at minus 11 while Ludvig finished at minus 7. Then, three golfers tied for third place at minus four. So, it’s not like there was a strong chance that these golfers were going to be able to catch those two. But, that does mean there was quite a bit of competition once you got beyond the first two.

In fact, the “top 10” at the 2024 Masters had a lot more than just “10.” As there were three golfers tied for third and three golfers tied for ninth, the “top 10” actually had eleven golfers in it.

Max Homa, Colin Morikawa, and Tommy Fleetwood tied for third at minus four. Max and Colin are from America while Tommy hails from England.

After that, two golfers tied for sixth. Those are Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith, from America and Australia respectively. They shot -2 over the course of the tournament.

In 8th, all by himself, was Xander Schauffele at minus one. If you shot even par at the 2024 Masters, you tied for 9th. That’s just how difficult Augusta National was this past year.

Rounding out the top 10 were Cameron Young, Tyrell Hatton and Will Zalatoris. Tyrell is from England, the other two are from America.

By that same token, if you shot just one over par, you tied for 12th and received $405,000. It’s impossible to overstate just how challenging this course can be when it’s at its best. And remember: in 2025, it’s going to be at its best yet again.

Looking Ahead to 2025

After the hurricane, so many have been worried about the Masters, Augusta National, and the region in general. With so much devastation, it may be hard to believe that the tournament will be back. But it will be. Moreover, it’ll be better than ever.

Professionals have essentially been working around the clock on the course since the rains and wind stopped. Their incredible work has been nothing short of miraculous. Augusta National will be ready for the Masters in 2025. When the Masters returns, we’ll be here to make your Masters experience a memory that stays with you forever.
